Breadcrumbs shows where the current screen sits, as a trail from the root. The last item is the current screen, drawn stronger and not pressable. A long trail wraps onto more lines, or collapses with maxItems. See the web Breadcrumbs for the browser version.
There is no URL routing on a phone, so onNavigate gets a crumb's href and hands it to your router. A crumb can also have its own onPress.
With maxItems, a longer trail shows the first crumb, a "more" button and the last maxItems - 1 crumbs. The button expands the trail in place.
- href does not navigate by itself: it goes to onNavigate, so the app's router decides. A crumb's onPress wins over it.
- There is no nav landmark or ordered list in React Native, so there is no aria-label. Crumbs are links, and the current one is announced as selected in place of aria-current="page".
- Focus does not move to the first revealed crumb when the trail expands.
